  • Review: we had a wonderful experience with Mae Yao Ecotours. The organizer Thellie was incredibly helpful, responsive and kind, answering all our questions. Our Lahu guide Choha was great, as was his wife Nato. We started at a waterfall, trekked ‘up up up’ with beautiful views, arriving at their village from above. At their home (where guests can stay overnight) they prepared an incredible lunch cooked and served in bamboo , inviting us to pitch in. The food was very delicious: rice, pumpkin veggie stew, eggs, BBQ chicken, eggplant chilli paste, wild jungle tea, bananas and papaya. Our son said it was the best meal of his life. We then did a weaving workshop on a loom made from banana stalk and bamboo. Everyone loved taking turns and we had time to make bracelets for the whole family. We also visited the village, and chatted a lot with Choha, a very experienced and wonderful guide. All told it was a very wonderful day and we are thankful to Mae Yao Ecotours and all the local guides and families they work with for making such experiences possible for visitors. Highly recommended!
  • Friendly guide and competent management. We had a great day
  • We had a wonderful day with Chaha, our guide for the day's trek in the mountains. The agency was able to accommodate us in terms of schedules and was very responsive before and after booking. Chaha taught us some of his knowledge (fauna, flora, local life) and we loved the experience, very authentic. Something to experience when you come to Thailand. It happened too quickly!
  • A superb trek day led us to a magnificent waterfall, where our two Akha guides introduced us to the various traditional uses of bamboo. Unlike other operators who simply serve reheated meals without any real cultural experience, here lunch was a true discovery: an authentic meal, prepared before our eyes and entirely cooked in bamboo with fresh ingredients. The natural landscape was splendid, and our two guides were authentic and friendly. We learned a lot about their culture and traditions. The organization was also impeccable, with perfectly punctual hotel pickup and drop-off. A truly enriching experience and a successful unique day that clearly stands out from the classic tours in the region. Thank you to the team for this beautiful discovery.
  • This was a private tour therefore we requested and got exactly what we wanted which was a lot more hiking than usual trip. The homestay was the cleanest place we have ever stayed in the middle of a jungle! Obviously cold shower and squat toilet. Food was considerably above average, especially the meal cooked using ingredients and tools he foraged for in the forest. Guide very pleasant. Incredibly quiet place to sleep and the stars were wonderful
